Universal Studios Hollywood once held the event back in 1997, not including the Halloween attractions in 1986 and 1992. Then in 2001-2005 the event was put to a pause. But then it returned in 2006! The Director in '06 and still to this day, is John Murdy, working horrifically with his co-Creative Director Chris Williams. Together, over the years, this duo has created horrifying scenes from movies such as
A Nightmare on Elm Street
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

and many more, making it feel as though you are actually in the movie! They also have created mazes for a certain TV show named The Walking Dead! But that is not all, they even created mazes for artists/bands like Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, and Black Sabbath! The ones that really caught my attention were the mythical legends! They captured this image and made it come to life(and scare the living hell out of me!). These mazes would include, La Llorona and El Cucuy: The Boogeyman! Now there are many mazes, and many scare zones over the years, but some things that separate Hollywood from Orlando(from what i know of at least), are the Go-Go girls and the Terror Tram!
The Director, John Murdy.
Born in 1968, a great mind like his , could not start without some encouragement.
Eccentric Grandma Rose Kavanaugh could be the source for all this; she would wait until her grandchildren came home from school and scare them from behind a closet door or a shelf. One time in 1974, 7 year old Murdy was convinced by his grandmother to play dead with his siblings, covered in ketchup and knives thrown all over the floor, just to scare their parents when they would return home. When asked about such occurrences in his childhood, he would respond with "We all thought it was a great idea," says Murdy, laughing at the recollection like a homicidal maniac. "My parents were horrified."
Murdy used his parent’s basement to create his own mazes at home. It was like an early start.

This man has been directing HHN since 2006. He is also among the group of people who designed the ride, Revenge of the Mummy. But besides that, Mr. Murdy is presently in charge of tweeting to his fans on the official twitter website for HHN. He teases fans with hints about the upcoming mazes and attractions held at the event. Sometimes, he even has giveaways, where he may request you to answer a horror movie question. If you get the answer right before anyone else, you may win the prize that he offered to the public, it may be a shirt hat, a movie DVD, or (rarely) a prop from a movie!
